Corona
The Corona rules have changed again. Mouth caps are no longer mandatory. The restaurants, terraces and shops, museums are open
The advantage of our place is that it is safe here outside the city and that you can cook for yourself. The wellness area is also absolutely private and therefore safe.
The Kaakberg is thoroughly cleaned before new guests arrive. You have your own front door, terraces and garden. We are both vaccinated. On arrival we keep one and a half meters away and of course we adhere to all local rules.

Travel directions
We live next to the Kaakberg , the part that we rent out. Warder is about 5 km from Edam and 25 km from Amsterdam. The house on the dike is located between Edam and Warder. The nearest public transport is 6 km away (Edam). If you wish, you can use the bicycles, which we have available to our guests for free (4). You can rent more bicycles in Edam.
There is a regular bus connection from Edam to Amsterdam Central and vice versa. In Amsterdam the bus leaves from Central Station (rear). You can choose from Bus 314. The bus ride takes about 25 minutes. You can rent a car at Schiphol Airport 50 km from us or come with your own car.
ROUTE by car:
From the RING take the exit VOLENDAM (N247). You drive for about 20 minutes (you pass Broek in Waterland, Monnickendam, Volendam) until you see the sign Edam. But don't take this first exit to Edam, even if your GPS tells you to. Continue and take the next exit at the Edam Noord roundabout (you will see a large church on the right). Immediately after the roundabout, turn left onto a small road (Lokkemientjeweg) in the direction of Oorgat. Follow this road, it bends to the right and at the 2nd intersection you turn left (Oorgat). Then you follow this road for a few kilometers, out of the town, keep left along the dike, until you see our house. It is a white house with a black Kaakberg and brown posts in front of the house. There is a white sign to the right of the entrance to the path.

What is a Kaakberg
A Kaakberg is originally a high timbered haystack with a square plan and a fixed pyramid roof, also called a hay house and characteristic of Amsterdam and the surrounding area, the outside is usually black. We have converted it into a luxurious holiday home.

Arrival and departure times
Guests are expected between 3:00 PM and 10:30 PM on the day of arrival. We do ask that you indicate at least one day before your visit what time you expect to arrive. You can always bring your luggage in the morning. You must discuss this. On the day of departure you are requested to leave the Kaakberg before 11.00 am. You can leave the luggage with us and collect it later. Do you want to check in earlier? Please contact us a day in advance. We will then see what the options are.

Can I bring a pet?
Preferably no cats due to allergies. Dogs are, but there are rules and extra cleaning costs (15 euros per dog). The rule is: the dog must be well behaved, not sitting on the chairs, sofas or beds. Do not leave alone at home, unless the dog can do so for a short time, but in a crate. Please clean the dog before he/she goes upstairs. Also look at the House Rules.

Is there a bus stop nearby?
There is a bus stop in Edam (5 km from here). There the bus goes very regularly to the center or Metro Amsterdam Noord (25 minutes).
Take bus 314 to Central Station or 316 (to Metro Noord-Zuidlijn) at Edam bus station. Get off at Central Station or Amsterdam North for the North South metro line. For the current times, see 9292.nl
Is your car park closed and private?
Not closed, but you can park on site with a maximum of 2 cars.
Can I rent and store a bicycle from you?
We ourselves have 4 free bicycles for adults. You can rent more bicycles in Edam, including e-bikes and/or children's bicycles. Parking is also possible, in a closed shed.
Is the Kaakberg suitable for children?
Yes, we have two extra beds available (a baby and a toddler bed) and two high chairs for the dining table. Please ask in advance whether we should set these up for you. On the first floor you can close the door to protect the stairs and on the second floor there is a safety gate.
The Sundance Spa can only be used by children under supervision, but they must be properly toilet trained. This also applies (just like for adults: it is not a swimming pool, so please use it for a maximum of half an hour and then close it properly to save energy.
