SUSTAINABILITY and WASTE TREATMENT

  1. We use solar panels for electricity, an economical HR boiler, thermostatic valves and separate the waste according to the guidelines of the Municipality of Edam-Volendam. The waste bins are behind the shed at the front. (see also point 3. BEFORE DEPARTURE). For reasons of hygiene (fruit flies, stench) we do not have a separate 'green' waste bin at the top of the kitchen. If you wish, we can provide you with large recyclable paper bags to fill and toss into the green bin yourself.
  2. We kindly ask you to participate in saving energy and water. See also the SPA section.
  3. If available, you may come and pick cultivated herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden (ask us) and we will provide you with fresh eggs from the chickens, also if available. Everything is grown organically, we don't use poison and the chickens also get organic feed. Don't feed them, they get everything they need.
  4. We have installed Aquacell which means we have calcium free water. This has consequences for the use of soap, shampoo, dishwasher and washing machine. You will experience that the water is very soft and good for your skin. Please use only a few drops of soap and shampoo; use only 20 grams of powder or half a block in the dishwasher. We save detergent, energy and water. The water is very good to drink.

HORREN

  1. The screens are very fragile, so we ask you to pay extra attention, especially with wind
  2. Rule 1: open windows, use screens. Rule 2: close windows, do not use screens, please slide back well. Ask for, or read the user manual how to open and close the doors, windows and screens in the different rooms
  3. Since we live next to the lake and in the countryside, there can be mosquitoes and flies at times. In certain winds and warm weather, it can happen that many IJsselmeer flies come over the dike. Therefore, always use the screens in the house, but only open the windows and screens that are not on the wind. Do not leave doors open, especially at night be careful with a lot of light inside.
